River Fancy (Congaree) looks good on the Meadowlands turf, while Peace Town (Peace Rules) finishes a decent 2nd in the TRAPP Mountain. Entries include Congar Light (Congaree) at Laurel and Floating On Air (Peace Rules) at Oak Tree.

It was beginning to look like it would be a winless day, but I knew Renda (Medaglia d'Oro) would come through. Also, Smart Coco (Smarty Jones) tries group III company at the Curragh.

Mine That Bird comes from off the pace in the Silver Deputy to become the first stakes winner for Birdstone, and the Junior Champion Stakes produces the first stakes winner for Medaglia d'Oro, as Renda draws off impressively.

Four Maiden Watch horses try stakes company this Saturday, Mine That Bird (Birdstone) and Oconee (Congaree) in the Silver Deputy at Woodbine, Renda (Medaglia d'Oro) in the Junior Champion Stakes at Monmouth, and Long Live Dixie (Peace Rules) in the Miss Shenandoah Stakes at Charles Town.

It was a day of slow starts. The only horse that got out of the gate quickly was Long Live Dixie (Peace Rules) who, not coincidentally, was our only winner on the day.

The filly Trifecta King (Peace Rules) takes to the Hollywood Cushion on Thursday. Her dam is a half-sister to Church Service who is grade II-placed and most recently (on March 29, 2008) finished 2nd in the Tokyo City Handicap.

The delightfully named Doodlebopmcgowan worked at Frost Training Center, recording a time of :35.20 for 3 furlongs. I can't wait to hear a track announcer get a hold of that one.

The Smarty Jones' colt Keefer was on track at Churchill Downs on 4/18, working 3 furlongs in :39.60. Keefer is out of the Seattle Slew mare, Shootforthestars.
