A red-letter day for Maiden Watch as we had 3 starters and 3 winners including Collegiate, the first winner for Saarland. The other winners were Medaglia d'Onore (Medaglia d'Oro) and Cradle of Peace (Peace Rules). Also, Rapid Redux (Pleasantly Perfect) returns taking on 5 including Prolific (Medaglia d'Oro).

It looked like our two horses, Medaglia d'Onore and Persian took the match race reference to heart as they finished just a head apart.
It's not exactly Big Brown vs. Curlin, but Monday at Churchill Downs two of our horses go head-to-head, as both Medaglia d'Onore and Persian are entered in a 5 furlong race.

Then, the fun really began in the post parade when Royal Card reared, dumped her rider, and ran off. The outrider made a nice grab to stop her after only one furlong and she stayed in the race.
Curly was devoid of early speed, spending the early part of the race hanging out in the back of pack (strangely enough with Curly Cameli). But, he did make a nice middle move, passing a few before tiring.
