Rapid Redux became the 4th straight winner for Maiden Watch with a game effort at Monmouth Park. He took the lead out of the gate, but was hounded by the $425,000 2-year old, Matador Run. Eventually Matador Run fell back, but Rapid Redux was swishing his tail and I thought that Detective would go by them both. However, Rapid Redux found something more and Detective had to settle for 2nd. Matador Run held on to third.
Prolific, our first-time starter by Medaglia d'Oro, trailed the field the whole way round and never got into the race. He was also a bit agitated in the post parade. Hopefully, the experience will serve him well next time out.
