Bridge to Gold Rules the Red Bird

Red Bird Rules came out of the gate ok and went right after the leader, Chatter Wine, and looked like she would compete for the win. But, she had to check after a hole closed inside and seemed to lose all momentum after that.  She ended up 6th. Bridge to Gold was stalking and won easily with Hopeful Image closing well off a slow start. The pacesetter, Chatter Wine kept third.

I thought Hymynamissarah was in a great position in this one, sitting right off of the speed of Copper Sunrise and Cosmo Babe, but she just couldn't/wouldn't go by them. She was well clear of the fourth place finisher, but the flattening out in the stretch is a bit of a concern.

It looked as though King Congo stumbled slightly coming out of the gate, but it didn't seem to be significant. Alpakapaluza went right to the lead and never looked back. Rapid Redux Keeps the Streak Alive

Rapid Redux became the 4th straight winner for Maiden Watch with a game effort at Monmouth Park. He took the lead out of the gate, but was hounded by the $425,000 2-year old, Matador Run. Eventually Matador Run fell back, but Rapid Redux was swishing his tail and I thought that Detective would go by them both. However, Rapid Redux found something more and Detective had to settle for 2nd. Matador Run held on to third. Prolific, our first-time starter by Medaglia d'Oro, trailed the field the whole way round and never got into the race. He was also a bit agitated in the post parade. Hopefully, the experience will serve him well next time out.
