There were weather delays at Laurel Park, the 9th race was canceled because of darkness, the track was muddy, and Peace Town (Peace Rules) stumbled at the break. All looked lost for heavily favored Peace Town.

Maiden Watch horses Dueling Alex (Medaglia d'Oro), Reynaldothewizard (Speightstown), and Medaglia d'Onore (Medagia d'Oro) make up 1/3 of the Saratoga Special field.

Congo Kaye came out of the gate like a debut runner, slowly. The rest of the field was many lengths in front (it's hard to say how many, since she wasn't on the television screen). I thought, well this one's over.
