Kelly E. - Hornung has been working in southern California, most recently at Del Mar. In fact, he worked today (August 25), 4 furlongs in :50.60. Hornung, who sold for $120,000 as a yearling and $200,000 as a 2-year old, is out of the stake-placed Deb's Charm. Deb's Charm finished 3rd in the Alcibiades (gr. II) as a 2-year old. Hornung is her first foal.

SouthernPyro - funny you should mention Be Smart and Belle Jour, both are entered on Thursday at Saratoga (in separate races). More on their races later in the week.

Poor Smarty Marty! I do wish she would have won...

I'm a Smarty Jones fan, so it's always good to see new names of hs foals...like Be Smart..never heard of that one before...has he ran in any races yet?

And Belle Jour...I just heard about her a few days ago. Her name is really pretty:)

But yay for the Mediglia d'Oro filly, C.S. Silk...she ran a good 5 furlongs if you ask me...

Anyone hear of how a Speightstown 2yo is doing by the name of Hornung? I saw he worked at Saratoga...but haven't seen much else. Any info would be appreciated!

Please check the SPEIGHTSTOWN progeny earmnings cited in article.....either this figure is wrong or the BloodHorse list is wrong....please let me know....
