Gillies

Sir Harry Lewis descends from a line of stallions that are best known as broodmare sires. It's no wonder, then, that he has spent the past five years as a leader by Broodmare Sire AEI, as seen in the April issue of TBH MarketWatch.

re: Sir Harry Lewis: Last In a Line of Great Damsires

MISSA BREVIS, FOALED IN 1990 IS A DAUGHTER OF MISWAKI, WOULD ANYONE KNOW OF A SON OR GRANDSON OF ALLEGED ON STUD DUTIES IN AUSTRALIA.

Did he come up in your research?

Scot's reply: Providential (IRE) was a French group winner and took the 1981 Washington, D.C., International (gr. IT). His last few years at stud were at Derby Hill Farm in Maryland. Unfortunately, his impact on the breed has been minimal, and he did not meet the requirements for inclusion in this study. Fascinating pedigree though -- grandson of Tom Rolfe with a son of My Babu as his broodmare sire,

re: Sir Harry Lewis: Last In a Line of Great Damsires

I am dubious about a brood mare sire that makes it to this list because of one high earning son. I am glad to see that Sir Harry Louis has got to the point that it's not all do to Volpony at least. Too bad he died I like Alleged and think we have probaly seen the last of him. Oh and Scott are you writing 2 blogs now?

Scot's reply: Thanks, DL. As an associate editor of MarketWatch, I'll occasionally contribute to this blog, especially when there's more to say about a topic than makes it into one of my articles!
