I hope that these are a permanent feature on the website. They are so interesting and really give a feel to topics like barbaro's full brother and the up and coming 2 yr olds of the season. I really really enjoy reading them as both a breeder and a fan.

Children are the key to keep this sport alive. I tried with my classes when I taught 1st grade. We followed the derby horses, actually worked with a farm here in Saratoga by visiting and naming thoroughbreds, wrote to trainers etc... sadly only two responded...Barclay Tagg and Robin and John Servis. Both during their derbys. In fact, John called my school to tell us how one of my student's works was going to be on ESPN. We unfortunately were not told of this by the office until the next day and never saw the clip. One student actually has her story in the "Letters to Smarty Jones" book.

Barclay Tagg, Robin, John Servis, Steve Asmussen's organization, and Keeneland should be commended on their efforts which hopefully will educate and make new fans for tomorrow in the sport of horseracing.
