Nicanor: Tracking Barbaro's Brother will launch March 1. See you then!

36 Comments:

I can not wait for him to start breezing and have some recorded works or even just pictures of him galloping.

LaraC. 26 Feb 2008 9:34 PM

Does Nicanor have any nicknames?  If not, can we vote on one?

Mr. Freeze 26 Feb 2008 11:30 PM

Great, question, "Mr. Freeze." I will have to find out if he has a nickname yet. Stay tuned to find out!

cnovak 27 Feb 2008 2:02 PM

YIIPPIIIEEE...cannot wait to get some news on Nic...

pamie 27 Feb 2008 4:35 PM

Looking forward to hearing about Nicanor.  He will be awesome no matter how successful he is on the track.

MJ 28 Feb 2008 10:45 AM

I can not wait to see how is going to do. I hope he goes for the triple crown next year!

SkippenMyDesign 29 Feb 2008 9:27 AM

Blessed be Nicanor.

I can smell those roses in May.

Rod 29 Feb 2008 4:59 PM

Will we see any Barbara Livingston photos of him?  Thank you!

Affirmed4ever 29 Feb 2008 5:44 PM

Great question, Affirmed! I'm sure we'll have Livingston shots available if Barbara gets access to Nicanor.

cnovak 29 Feb 2008 5:58 PM

Yippeeeeeeee!!!!!!!  Any chance he will be at Saratoga this summer?

dawne 29 Feb 2008 6:10 PM

With great anticipation we are waiting to hear from Nicanor!  Cannot believe he is finally starting training.  Thank you Claire.

Susan 29 Feb 2008 6:40 PM

I would love to see Nicanor win the triple crown!!!!

Dusty 29 Feb 2008 6:49 PM

Not really a nickname, but I've been calling him "Dapper" on another website/thread - and he seems to like it.  He refers to himself (via human typist)as "NJ".

SylverSky 29 Feb 2008 6:51 PM

The FOBs are grateful for this - thank you so very much.

SylverSky 29 Feb 2008 6:54 PM

Does Nicanor show any resemblence of Barbaro when he was his age?

Secretariat_rules 29 Feb 2008 7:46 PM

What a great way to keep Barbaro's memory alive & focus on the future!

MRO 29 Feb 2008 8:23 PM

Let's give Nicanor a chance to mature; he has a lot to live up to.  I'm sure his big brother is looking down on him from Horse Heaven.  Love ya', Nic!

Smarty's Gal 29 Feb 2008 8:26 PM

This is wonderful!  Can't wait to hear how he's doing.  As for a nickname, I guess it would be 'Niccy' as in 'Nicky.'  And I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of him too.  Thanks so much for this.

Cello1949 29 Feb 2008 9:46 PM

This is the news I've been watching for. I can hardly wait to see how far "Nic" can go! My expectations are high, after all he has really big hoofs to fill. The Jacksons must be on Cloud Nine.

normajean81258 29 Feb 2008 11:06 PM

We all know Nicanor will go the Mr. M Matz barn, do we have a date of when? Barbaro didn't have a nickname.

Debbie 01 Mar 2008 9:26 AM

Great question, Dawne. I'm sure that all depends on his progress once he gets to Fair Hill... but knowing Matz's methods with his horses, you can be sure Nicanor won't be pushed to hurry along for a summer debut if he's not ready. We'll just have to wait and see!

cnovak 01 Mar 2008 10:15 AM

Secretariat, that's a great question - one I'm going to address in future posts. Stay tuned and you'll get your answer!

cnovak 01 Mar 2008 10:18 AM

Hey Debbie and Robyn - thanks for the questions. Stay tuned as I plan to answer both of these within the next few posts!

cnovak 01 Mar 2008 10:22 AM

Debbie, I think Barbaro's nickname was "Bobby" around the barn.  I may be mistaken, but that's what I've read.

Smarty's Gal 01 Mar 2008 6:18 PM

Can't wait to hear more of the handsome Nicanor. May he run fast, but run safely always. I am very excited about this site and getting to follow the special colts progress and development.

LIsainColorado 02 Mar 2008 4:17 PM

Wishing him the best of health and longevity. What a handsome guy.

jane 02 Mar 2008 4:33 PM

Here is hope that our tale has a happy ending under the spires. The fans enter and view the new statue of our dear beloved Barbaro and the next thing you hear are the cheers that don't end for Nicanor. I'm starting to root right away!

Rickanor 02 Mar 2008 8:34 PM

This is a great way to see how he is doing. Thanks for doing it! There is a picture of him and his momma on pedigreequery.com

catsvx 03 Mar 2008 9:03 AM

There is not a day that goes by that I do think about Barbaro.  Such a character he must of had a great personality, I see that in Nicanor's eyes.  That twinkle that lets you know he has it. I have been looking for news on him & here you are.  Thank you.

Rita 03 Mar 2008 5:47 PM

This is a wonderful idea Claire. I will check in regularly. We really can't expect "Nicky" to be another Barbaro but than again you never know do you?  Looks like a nice group starting here.   Richie

Richie 06 Mar 2008 2:53 PM

Hi Claire -

I look forward to following your article - are you coming to FH in April? You should swing by and see our new farm!

Sorry I missed your call last week, been busy and sick.

Speak Soon,

Your Friend,

Iain

Iain Holmes 08 Mar 2008 9:35 AM

Can't wait to see what Nicanor does.  I just hope the public remembers that like all siblings there will be similarities and differences.  However like most I can't help wishing the best for this colt.

Dragonladysculptor 11 Mar 2008 6:31 PM

I just saw the Nicanor pictures; talk about genetic blitzkrieg! He is magnificent in his own right. There will never be another Barbaro but horses have a way of renewing your spirit and Nicanor has done just that. On to the races!

Ofelia 12 Mar 2008 9:48 PM

Nicanor is due at MM stables in April 08

Ragsy 04 Apr 2008 12:25 PM

Great news to start my morning reading all the posts...eagerly awaiting photos and notes on how Nic is doing....We will never forget Barbaro, and will always refer to Nicanor as "Barbaros Baby Brother...evenb when he starts winning...

Callie 06 Apr 2008 11:50 AM

As an amateur TB follower, could someone please define the term "Breeze" and the phrase "Blow-Out" for me?

Our beloved Barbaro is gone physically but is still in our hearts.  His beautiful brothers have made our hearts soar at the sight of them.  They are magnificent young horses and we all will be cheering for them whether or not they ever race.  They are truly precious boys.
