I Hear You, Wilbur!

Wilbur asked a great question about equine IQ in a previous post, and thanks to his inquisitive nature, you're all in for a big treat. Expect a post in the middle of next week which will be all about that subject and how it relates to the training/racing of Thoroughbreds. We'll talk with trainers about some of the smartest Thoroughbreds they've ever raced, review even talk about the really smart horses of history - like Clever Hans, Beautiful Jim Key, and - no joke - Mister Ed!

Which makes me think... with a name like Wilbur, shouldn't our buddy know all about equine EQ? :-)

That will be awesome! Loved the book on Beautiful Jim Key. He and his owner/trainer are definitely some amazing stories that have been lost in history.

So...is there an insider's joke here?  I mean, "Wilbur" was the "owner" of Mr. Ed!  LOL!  I'm positive horses have intelligence.  Case in point - Nicanor's brother, Barbaro!  I LOVE THIS BLOG!  Keep up the good work!

this is fascinating.  I was so touched when I saw this boy in the movie, First Saturday in May, brings tears to my eyes now.  He has some big shoes to fill but he certainly looks like an athlete.

I'm currently reading the book, Beautiful Jim Key. What a fascinating horse and owner. Wonderful to know it was an "educated horse" and his dedicated owner who launched the "Be Kind to Animals" movement! Looking forward to the next post!

Yes, how smart do they think Nicanor is?  How can they tell?

I love this blog! I check in everyday.  Cant wait to see what the trainers have to say about this subject.
