Because so many readers are interested in Lentenor’s progress, I thought I would check-in with Stephens Thoroughbreds to see how the yearling colt was settling into his new home. He left Mill Ridge Farm near Lexington to head to Stephens Thoroughbreds, which is near Ocala, Fla., earlier this month.
Jill Stephens was kind enough to answer a few questions about Lentenor and his new routine.
1. How has Lentenor settled in to his new home?
Lentenor has settled in here at the farm just fine.
2. What is his personality like?
I don't know him yet as well as the people at Mill Ridge, as they had him for so long. So far, he seems pretty laid back.
3. What is his daily routine right now?
I have started to work with him - he is currently being worked and driven on the driving lines. He is a receptive learner, and not nearly as playful as Nicanor or Barbaro were when I was working with them at this stage. For now, he comes into the barn for his lessons, gets a bath, then goes back outside to a paddock. Every other night he sleeps in the barn.
4. What’s next for Lentenor?
I have already been on the other colts that came with him...but he isn't sure that it's such a good idea yet. Hopefully, by the end of this week I will be riding him. By next week, he will be jogging in the field.
