Lentenor Video

As promised, a recent video of Lentenor is now up on bloodhorse.com.

The 2-year-old Dynaformer colt is a full brother to Barbaro and Nicanor. On a recent visit to Ocala, Fla., Ron Mitchell (the online managing editor of The Blood-Horse) and Russell Johnson (The Blood-Horse’s video producer and director) paid a visit to the colt at Jill and John Stephens’ Stephens Thoroughbreds.

Enjoy!

Amazing, he does look a lot like Barbaro, God blessed Lentenor!

katrina 30 Jan 2009 3:31 PM

Thanks Amanda,

Lentenor is a gorgeous compliment to the Dynaformer/Barbaro brothers. The video shows him to be a darker bay than the pictures are. Which is the true color?

Good Luck Lentenor in your career.

Kathy 30 Jan 2009 3:42 PM

I love how he moves!

HLH 30 Jan 2009 3:43 PM

Thanks so much for that!  Lentenor is very handsome, has a lovely and spirited eye.  He moves well and seems to  enjoying learning.  He bounces along in canter in a very jaunty way doesn't he?

It looks an amazing set up where he is and he is clearly getting an excellent grounding.  My computer is not wired for sound so heard none of the soudtrack but loved seeing Lentenor in action!

God Bless

Best wishes

Abbie

Abbie Knowles 30 Jan 2009 3:47 PM

great video and looks like he's in good hands    thanks

Wee-o 30 Jan 2009 3:55 PM

He is going to be amazing! I can't wait to see him in action! I wish him well! Godbless you Lentenor!

Tara 30 Jan 2009 4:23 PM

Thanks so much for the video. Lentenor is quite a handsome colt. He seems to move so smoothly. Good to know that once he knows what is expected of him he catches on quickly to it. Looking forward to hearing about how his training will be going in the coming months.

DONNA 30 Jan 2009 4:27 PM

Brettzky99, where are you??  What do you think of this guy now?  I think

he's sensational looking.  Just a gorgeous, gorgeous baby.

Marigold 30 Jan 2009 4:39 PM

Loved the interview and the pictures. Lentenor is a handsome boy, a darker bay than I had thought from other pics.  Thank you.

Lisa 30 Jan 2009 4:42 PM

Thank you BloodHorse for this blog and all the updates and the extra time and effort everyone puts into the following of Barbaro's family.  You have no idea how much it means to so many of us.  I look forward to tomorrow.  Come back to the barn safe and sound.  Because of Barbaro I have become a BloodHorse subscriber and have even gone to my local race track and bet.  Thank you for the healing this blog provides.

Cassidy 30 Jan 2009 4:42 PM

Like Kathy mentioned in the video he looks to be a darker bay than Barbaro or Nicanor than the photos make him look.  Which is closer to his true color?  But he looks to be a very nice mover and has a very kind eye.  Can't wait to see what he does!  Thank you for the update!

kate 30 Jan 2009 4:43 PM

WOW! He is really something to look at. He moves really well and looks like he's going to have alot of power. Not to slight Nicanor, but Lentenor looks abit more correct ... either way, I hope they both stay safe and stay sound and happy. Lentenor really looks so much like Barbaro is amazing.

Lady Ruffian 30 Jan 2009 5:07 PM

I like Lentenor a LOT. He looks great and I hope to bet on him in 2010. I think he could  be better than Nicanor in time.

MATT H. 30 Jan 2009 5:23 PM

Thank you! Prayers for Nicanor, safe race tomorrow. Prayers for Lentenor safe training.

Debbie 30 Jan 2009 5:24 PM

Lentenor is a plain-looking colt, which is perfectly fine by me. Sheer knock-out beauty is no predictor of how a horse will run. I love his kind temperament. Caution is a natural horse behavior, but I like the fact that he is able to quickly get past his caution and learn what is expected of him. So far he seems like a very workmanlike baby. Can't ask for more in a young 2-year-old.

For Big Red 30 Jan 2009 6:01 PM

So good to see him mature and boy does he remind me of Barbaro in looks.

He's gonna be big like Dynaformer!

VirginiaBred 30 Jan 2009 6:21 PM

The video is terrific and many thanks for that.  I do believe he is darker than Barbaro, more like Dynaformers color.  May Nicky-Knocks do his family proud tomorrow and can't wait for Lentenor to go to Michael in May, will be good to have two brothers together at last and then hopefully #3 will be with them the next year. Yeah.......Barbaro would be so proud.......

lobieb 30 Jan 2009 7:01 PM

I can't get the video on my computer.  Can someone let mknow if thre is another site wher I can see i?

maryo 30 Jan 2009 7:20 PM

Thank you for the video and for tracking down info on Lentenor.  In about 3 months he will be at Fair Hill.

MJ 30 Jan 2009 8:34 PM

He kinda reminds me of Man O'War as a young horse - that head set seams like the one Man O'War had if you look at old photos.

Mokey 30 Jan 2009 8:41 PM

What an amazing colt! I can't wait to see his racing premier, just like I am anticipating Nicanor's tomorrow! I will be cheering Nicanor on and wishing Lentenor luck with training! God Bless!

anniedixie65 30 Jan 2009 9:08 PM

I enjoyed this peek at Lentenor. Let's hope he continues to strengthen in mind and muscle.

I adore that little whisp of a snip on his nose. What a cutie!

Jamie 30 Jan 2009 10:23 PM

absolutely delightful seeing Lentenor, wow, what a beauty.  my goodness he looks like his oldest brother.

Ragsy 30 Jan 2009 10:37 PM

Great video! It is so appreciated! He is looking very good. Seems to be maturing nicely.

Bring Nicky home safe, Edgar! Good luck to all tomorrow!

sheila 31 Jan 2009 12:42 AM

Thank you each and every one that has contributed to the reporting on Nicanor and Lentenor's progress. Gosh, ain't they grand? I do believe Lentenor looks more like Dynaformer than any of the brothers. Sure will be rooting for Nicanor with fingers and toes crossed for his safety. Good luck little buddy and have yourself some fun. Enjoy!

Dona 31 Jan 2009 2:44 AM

He is very handsome. Thanks for the brilliant video!

Majella from Ireland 31 Jan 2009 4:24 AM

Great Video-thanks so much!!

Laura 31 Jan 2009 8:59 AM

Thank you for the video of Lentenor. I love that he is a "kind" horse. I agree with lobieb that Barbaro would be and must be very proud of his brothers. Here's hoping Nicanor and Edgar have a safe race today

Kath from SC 31 Jan 2009 9:23 AM

Very cool!  Thank you for the update and video of Lentenor and his progress in training.  He's another awesome looking colt.

txbarbfan 31 Jan 2009 9:44 AM

What a gorgeous horse. He reminds me so much of Barbaro. I really appreciate the efforts of everyone who keeps us informed on the progress of Barbaro's little brothers. Barbaro touched people as no horse had done for a long time. It is fitting to be able to remember him and follow his sibling's lives. God bless all the horses.

smarie 31 Jan 2009 12:26 PM

LOVE seeing the video...and look forward to all the updates.   I will be watching Nicanor with a heart full of hope!

Cheri 31 Jan 2009 1:43 PM

hi all the time is right for nic and what a great video of len these guys are going places i known the jackson's are pleased talk soon all....go nic

k.w.j...........n.c 31 Jan 2009 2:14 PM

He has a very kind eye and an inquisitive yet cautious nature.  I like his conformation better than Nicanor.  If my hunch is right and I think it is, I expect to see some greatness in him.  I am not counting out Nicanor but I think a little more time is what he needs.  Lentenor, while not outstanding in looks at this age, I believe will surprise us all next year in beauty, movement and intelligence.

hrseldy 31 Jan 2009 10:15 PM

Lentenor may need time, too.  He is beautiful and a very intelligent, confident looking young horse.  And, physically, he looks very together right now, but he mnay have a growth spurt, too.  Let's back off and let him live his life and  complete his training.  We wnt him to succeed and be happy and remain healhy

Marigold 01 Feb 2009 1:09 PM

it looks like letenor has his dad's color. my goodness, another beautiful baby. it is hard to beleive how fast these guys have grown. everday, reading about their progress really give me something to look forward to.

sandieh 03 Feb 2009 8:06 AM

OK horse girlies and Matt. They all need time not just these 2. Funny how Nicanors old fans have so soon fled into Lentenors camp.

Shame on you all. A lot of good things happened in Nicanors lose, did anyone even watch it?

thoroughbredhdlr 03 Feb 2009 1:53 PM

I have NOT fled to Lentenor.  I still love Nicanor.  Just love Lentenor also. For the rest of you, cut out the mean-spirited, need to bash comments. We are as entitled to love them as you are to be critical of them.  Don't you have anything better to do?  We come to this blog because we love these horses and want to support them and want to know what is happening to them.  What is the harm in that?  Your mean, nasty , lord it over comments are neither constructive nor worthwhile.

Please go somewhere else.

Marigold 04 Feb 2009 12:08 PM

Brettzky99, have you seen the new Lentenor video?  Has you opinion about his conformation and general appearance changed as a result?  Would love to hear what you have to say about him, as well.

Marigold 04 Feb 2009 12:14 PM

In the video of Lentenor with Gabriel DeJesus riding him, he almost looks as if he wants to take off! Perhaps that is the internal energy Jill spoke of in her earlier interview?

Marigold 06 Feb 2009 1:31 PM

As far as Nicanor is concerned, I am more encouraged than discouraged about his racing ability. He was bumped and nicked himself coming out of the gae, dspite that he ran a pretty fas quqrter to catch up to the front runners and then Edgar moved him out and eased him up.  Had Edgar not done that, Nicnor might have kept running and injured himself.  Nicanor DID NOT QUIT -  he was eased.  I believe he can, and will, prove himself in the future and I look forward to it.  Lentenor has a lot of work to do before it is his time.  But, he looks formidable.  The look in his eyes and his stature and demeanor all look very promising.  He is gorgeous as well.

Marigold 08 Feb 2009 3:03 PM

thanks for the viedo i really enjoyed it good luck to you lentenor the young prince run fast and strong and true but most important run safe and strong legs

margies 13 Feb 2009 11:44 AM

Wow, he looks amazing and really reminds me off Barbaro and it's very exciting to here that he's built like him.  Barbaro was a fine horse and so are his 2 little brothers.

Hosie Lvr 20 Feb 2009 11:35 PM

What a gorgeous horse.  And he appears to like the camera just like Barbara.

Ginger 21 Feb 2009 9:06 AM

Won't it be fun when he comes to Fair Hill this spring and we can hear Peter and Michael's take on him?!  Surely, they must have seen this video as must the Jacksons.  I would think they are ALL excited. Lentenor looks intimidating at only barely 2 years old. His presence is staggering.

Marigold 22 Feb 2009 12:49 PM

Just watched Lentenor at 7 days old, what a beautiful foal, oh, so like his wonderful brother Barbaro, lots of love to you Lenny, betcha, you do fine in life.........The Prince,to be!!!

Ragsy 25 Feb 2009 1:59 PM

Lentenor, your new baby brother is here.  Betcha, he will look most like you and I am just guessing because of no markings except that star on his brow.  You were pretty stunning yourself as a 1-7 day old youngster, cant wait to see the youngster now...

Ragsy 12 Mar 2009 11:28 AM

Foals always seem to give you a good preview of how they will look at maturity. Then they go thru the growing stages. When Lentenor was first born, he had confirmation more like Barbaro, he was bigger/fuller/taller than brother Nicanor. I can't wait to see their newly born brother as soon as they will determine that he is well enough and ready for public pics. Thank you Jill, Gabriel, and the Jackson's for letting the public view the "Kings" younger siblings and to watch them grow.

evelynmarr 04 Apr 2009 4:31 PM

I have big hopes in Lentenor. I hope he will make it to the derby and win.

Maggie Ruble 08 Apr 2009 2:33 PM

Thank You for the great video update on Lentenor!!! He looks amazing !!! I think this one will be as great as his Awesome brother Barbaro... I think of him often, the breezes of heaven  i am sure are loveingly blowing between his beautiful ears....May his true greatness always be remembered!!!!
