Lentenor, the 2-year-old full brother to Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, had his first officially recorded workout June 15 when he breezed three furlongs in :38 at Fair Hill Training Center in Maryland. The time tied three others for the fastest of the day among six horses breezing at the distance.
Trained by Michael Matz for Roy and Gretchen Jackon’s Lael Stables, Lentenor reportedly had a previous three-eighths of a mile work that was not recorded.
Matz has not said when Lenny will make his first start. Barbaro, the ill-fated colt who lost his battle to laminitis in early 2007, made his first career start in October of his 2-year-old season. Nicanor, the full brother to Barbaro and Lentenor who is seeking his second career victory on Wednesday at Delaware Park, made his debut in January of this year, early in his 3-year-old season.
