La Ville Rouge, the dam of ill-fated Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, has been checked in foal at the 62-day stage of her pregnancy for 2009 and is believed to be carrying a filly.

On May 5, I was able to visit with La Ville Rouge and her new foal at Mill Ridge Farm near Lexington. Pictures included. Also, brief updates on Nicanor and Lentenor.

Several blog readers have asked about La Ville Rouge, so I thought I would give you a brief update. Also, one of her half-sisters is selling at Fasig-Tipton Feb. 9.
