Trust the Phipps family and Shug to bring a horse with multiple screws to the winner's circle on BC day. Best race - ever - Distaff at Churchill Downs won by Personal Ensign with how many screws? Even have (almost) same initials.

Great news, but still believe that this is a tall task to pull off. I'll be rooting for him though. Win or lose, his presence really enhances this race. This horse would have been HOTY last year had he had better racing luck in the BC Turf.

What is the longest a horse has been off from racing and won the BC Turf, I wonder? It would be sad to hear, after a race like the BC Turf, that "he needed the race."

I'm rooting for P O E and if he has the fairy-tale ending, it would be one of the biggest stories of the BC.

Phipps and Shug are a rarity among racing these days - anybody else would have likely retired Point of Entry and he would be whisked away to stud. Neither his connections, trainer or otherwise would have him back on the racetrack unless they figured he was good to go... this is taking me back to when racing was racing. Personal Ensign was allowed to recover from her injuries and she made history, Seabiscuit came back from injury and made history, Da Hoss came back from injury.... the racing world needs more of this. Give the horse a chance to come back.

It is a testament to McGaughey and everyone around this horse as to their skills and horsemanship. With his pedigree, Point of Entry has every right to be hard-headed and hard to handle (3x4 to His Majesty). But he is the opposite. He knows his manners and he is not hard-headed. I am also glad Dynaformer seems to have a son to carry on his sire line.
