Great article. I drove from the Detroit area to be at Arlington this past Saturday. As always, a great Million day, topped by the wonderful Gio Ponti.

Dr Fager was the greatest race horse to ever look through a bridle, period. He was the most versatile, he could carry weight and he set track and world records. He feared no one and he beat the best of the best from his era. His 1968 campaign was absolutely beathtaking............

Thanks for all the details and perspective/history you provide! I will be at the Million tomorrow, at a beautiful race course. If anyone hasn't had the chance to get here, it is worth a trip. Looking forward to seeing Einstein, Gio Ponti, Pure Clan, all the Europeans, and frankly every single horse. What is so amazing to me is how much history there is in this sport, and how fascinating the stories are of the horses and humans who have shaped it. Safe racing to all tomorrow.

Arlington Million day is the biggest raceday in Chicago and the reason why it works so well is because it has a high class fillies

and mares race to back it up in the Beverley D.I am proud to say we have the same at Toronto,s Woodbine for many years on Canadian

International Day with the fillies and mares race there to back it up being the E.P.Taylor Stakes.
