I didn't see anything about Alysheba. I was so excited to see him coming to the Kentucky Horse Park. I had even planned a trip to see him this summer. This was the horse that won the first Kentucky Derby that I ever watched and caused my love of horse racing. I was so saddened to hear of his passing.

THank you for this blog, Cryptoclarence was one of my favorites and it was special to see all he and the others left behind. So many fans today are younger and only know of the horses of today. They will never know the iron horses of yesterday.

It's always so sad when we lose a champion but the loss of Goulash was hard to take. One minute she's improving and then laminitis wins again, just like Barbaro. When are we going to find a cure for this insidious disease? I watched Drover win his race and it was so bitter sweet. Thanks Becky for this walk down memory road, like Mrs Jackson said "Grief is the price of love". We love and we grieve but our memories live on.

And with all that you didn't have the room to oh I don't know have one clip of KONA GOLD, maybe the one where he won that little breeder's cup sprint thing! So what if he was a gelding, HE HAD A FOLLOWING BECAUSE HE WAS A STAR, not because his sperm was worth money. STARS are what this businuss needs right now, not sperm...the breeding industry right now is like the self inflicted gunshot wound to the head for horseracing, horses like KONA are the bandaids and you can well imagine it is going to take a lot of bandaids to cover the wounds, especially the sucking chest wound of racing, racetrack attendence!!!

God I loved Coronado's Quest, I really thought he would have one of the triple crown races in 1998.

I didn't see or know much about the aforementioned horses but try to learn about as many as possible but it always makes me sad when one pases away. Some are still pretty young and that makes it sader.We just try to remember all they accomplished in their times.
