I found an excellent stallion prospect for Given Terms , Jazil ! He comes from one of the best families in the Stud Book ! He is also a True Nicks A rated mate for Given Terms ! I also like the Mr. Prospector / Private Account cross that has produced excellent runners. I think with the reasonable stud fee for Jazil ,you cant go wrong .

Yes i failed to mention that sorry. But i still stand next to the Giants Causeway. Although Purim i went and searched and am very impressed with the way he looks and his pedigree is older type and not as commercial as the older stallions but still good.

Icecapade was the son of another great broodmare, Shenanigans (the dam of Ruffian, as well as Laughter who produced Private Terms)

Somethingroyal produced the good sire Sir Gaylord early in her broodmare career.

I believe the stallion is a huge part of a foals potential so when you breed to an ok stallion your gonna get an ok foal. She has the pedigree use that to her advantage! Breed her to something that has Giants Causeway in it. He brings the Roberto line just like Dynaformer he also brings Secretariat, Northern Dancer, Storm Cat, Rahy, and Blushing Groom! He will also bring commercial status. If you think of it she produced very well with not so great stallions, shes a nice mare give her some credit her foals are iron horses breed her to Giants Causeway get a good looking animal that can run with an amazing pedigree! You cant pass that pedigree up!Sure at first the fol might not bring a lot but wait till it runs. Yes shes an older mare but look at Secretariats damn she was an older mare and she didn't really produce anything before him and they finally bred her to a sire that's very potentate and look what they got! Just think out side the box i would own this mare because not many people would want her and breed her to something out of the ordinary and end up getting a spectacular animal. Be patient and know how to breed.

Scot's reply: Love the enthusiasm! Thanks for your comments. I'm going to make one correction, though, because if I don't there'll be a bunch of comments! While you're right that Secretariat's dam is sort of the textbook example of an older mare producing her best foal (she was 18 when Big Red came along), she was far from an average mare before then. Actually, she was sent to Bold Ruler purposefully because she was such a goldmine. Previous foals included multiple stakes winner Sir Gaylord (later an influential sire); multiple stakes winner and Belmont Stakes third First Family; multiple stakes winner Syrian Sea (an older full sister to Secretariat); and three other stakes-place foals. Somethingroyal also produce a stakes-placed colt at 19 and another--this one grade I-placed--at 20.

YES, that would be great if Roy@Gretchen Jackson would purchase Given Terms. She has a lot of life. I wish I could. So I hope someone is good to her.

The term "to cull" is often misunderstood. The actual definition as it refers to animals is simply the act of removing inferior animals from the group. Notice that there is no mention of killing. People often misunderstand this, and the word "culling" has an undeservedly bad rap. People, please don't automatically equate "cull" with "kill".

Unfortunately if you ask the average person on the street, they'll tell you the term 'cull' usually means to kill a lesser animal, either at birth or when they are too old to be useful anymore.

10yo Shrewd Stipulation won again this afternoon in the opener at Suffolk. Why was she never sent back to Crafty Prospector? That's the only reason to do the 'scatter gun' sire choices in her early years - find out what works so you can send her back to the sires that are best for her. He wasn't pensioned until March 2007, plenty of time to get in after that first foal showed his ability. Too bad she can't go to CP's best son, Agnes Digital (he stands in Japan where he was a champion). Graeme Hall seems to be be a grandson with some 'Craftiness' about him.

I'm sorry you are offended by the concept of culling. It is what is done to keep improving what one is producing--one can't keep improving on their broodmare band without removing the lesser producing mares.

A cull from some of those top breeding farms is often a very good mare to a lesser breeder.

Actually, Crafty Prospector is more In Reality than than he is Mr. P. And he sires tough, professional racing stock. I'd go with a similar type rather than a similar pedigree: Slew City Slew. Yeah, he's old. So what? He's had two good stakes horses this year.

I wonder what the mare could produce with Rock Hard Ten? I hate to bring in Mr. Prospector but her dam's best cross seems to have been with the Prospector line and I wonder if it would help this mare? With RHT, the Prospector would come from his dam line and you'd also get Dynaformer's sire line with Roberto and a return of Princequillo. But, RHT is a stallion probably out of the prosepctive price range for this mare.
