I had a private email chastising me for failing to estimate Share a Moment's sale price. Here are my thoughts. First, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford her! But more seriously, it's much easier to estimate the sub-$25,000 mares than the $100,000+ offerings. At the upper end, buyers tend to be willing (and able) to reconcile the difference between "value" and "reasonable risk" in $20,000 or $50,000 increments that throw off what is true fair market value. In the case of Share a Moment, I'd say she's going to be below Fasig-Tipton November's median, which was $170,000 in 2009 and $250,000 in 2008. I wouldn't be surprised if she sells for $50,000 if the sale is depressed; on the other hand, $200,000 wouldn't make my jaw drop if Gio Ponti-inspired dreaming affects two well-to-do bidders.
