Scot....I think that a simple way to look at this is that the big boys, AP Indy and Storm Cat, bring the big bucks. But thier offsprings bloodlines bring the big value!

It seems that every time a big name AP Indy or Storm Cat Mare retires, she is rushed to the breeding shed of the other. Statistically this has not been a great move. Of 57 covers by AP Indy on a Storm Cat Mare..the top earner is $297K....not even enough to cover the stud fee....So much for the breeding the best to the best and hope for the best. Also the 13 covers by Storm Cat of AP Indy mares has produced only one noted horse, Bluegrass Cat ($1.76M), the next highest earner is only $243K, again much less than the stud fee.

For two such great sires to only combine for 1 out of 70 offspring to become Million dollar earners seems to indicate that this cross might be a bit on the weak side....especially when the high stud fee's are considered!

Here's another observation - Both Weekend Surprise and Terlingua are daughters of ...... Secretariat !

Also Hip 2145 a Holy Bull filly from Storm Cat's family

Scot's reply: Hip #2145? That's a Maria's Mon filly from a terrific family -- but I don't see the Holy Bull/Storm Cat connections. I checked Holy Bull's fillies in the sale and am not sure which one you're referencing.
