Combine his rare sire line with unusual German bloodline influences on the dam side and this is a stallion whose pedigree is worth a closer review.

German-Blooded Thoroughbred Stallions With Sire Potential for 2010

Descending from a full sister to the sire of German stallion great Surumu is Lauro, a graded-winning son of Monsun who's set to enter stud duty in 2010. Here's some more information on him as well as five other potential stallions with German bloodlines

Scot's reply: I wondered if anyone would mention Cetewayo (SRO). He's on my list of stallions to profile. As you said, his dam is a phenomenal producer -- and with just about any bloodline cross possible. Take a look at Cetewayo next to Raffie's Majesty... the His Majesty duplicate is a no-brainer, but it's interesting to see that in both stallions' pedigrees, their damsires both had Reliance II as a damsire.

re: U.S. Stallion With German Pedigree Influences and Sharp First Crops -- $3,000 Live Foal

He ran a Very close 3rd to Coronado's Quest and Victory Gallop in the Travers. If my memmory serves me correctly,a head separated all three of them.

re: U.S. Stallion With German Pedigree Influences and Sharp First Crops -- $3,000 Live Foal

I have not studied Raffie's Majesty. But, (and strictly from memory), I think that many of his offspring run in NY-bred restricted races which are notorious for paying high purses to lower-quality horses. This may partially explain the high $75,000 earnings per start number (which is not really that good when you consider that it barely covers 2 years of expenses).

And, while a $3,000 stud fee may seem a bargain, it pales in significance to the cost of keeping a horse in training (about $30,000 to $40,000 per year on average). I would much prefer to spend more on a stud fee if I thought that I had a greater chance of getting a faster horse.
