The Monsun (GER) filly was a $200,000 RNA.

The Encosta de Lago (AUS) colt sold for $500,000 -- quite a bit above the sale's $328,434 average and double the $250,000 median.

Please read my comment again. Either I failed to make my point clear or you misread what I wrote.

One can be both realistic and hopeful for the future of the thoroughbred market, one does not cancel out the other.

Sheikh Mohammed is both a major part of and is good for the thoroughbred industry. I wish he and his horses much success.

My warning is only about taking the raw numbers of a sale at face value. So to speak, large amounts of money were transacted from the right hand, to the left hand, from the present pocket to the future pocket. Now all well and good, these actions can benefit the thoroughbred market as a whole. Also know they could play havoc with the individual investors, both breeder and buyer if they are not accounted for what they are, which is not a true representation of the market value.

You might say my comment on the flavor of the month was out of place. If so, so be it. It is just that investing large amounts of money on unproven stallions, touted on their sires nicks & crosses, is a sure road to disaster. To steer a client in that direction is the surest way to make them a ex-owner of thoroughbred race horses. The industry needs a steady ownership on all levels. It can not survive hoping always for new blood.

Well, good morning, and have a very good day, it was my pleasure to share thoughts with you I have work.

THEY DON'T NEED YOU TO WORRY ABOUT THEM. I SAY GOOD FOR THE GENTLEMAN FROM DUBAI. HE AT LEAST KNOWS HIS HORSES REGARDLESS OF WHO ADVISES HIM. AND CONTINUED SUCCESS, PAR EXCELLANCE FASIG-TIPTON, IS WHAT I WISH FOR ALL INVOLVED.

Total smoke and mirrors. It's very obviouse that the Sheikh and his connections will spend what ever it takes to prop up the results.

There were many smoke and mirror sales last night, as I expect there will be tonight.

If one were to subtract the money spent by the Sheikh and his direct connections, we have figures that are not quite as good.

             OR

If one were to subtract the money spent on the progeny of just two sires (Bernardini & Medaglia d'Oro) again we have figures which reflect a not so quite robust market overall.

As for Bernardini, any owner who is touted on the flavor of the month by his blood stock adviser should fire the hired help. That same adviser probably touted "Aldebaran" at equally inflated prices two/three years ago to his/her last owner.

I do agree, the management of Fasig-Tipton is doing a great job in restoring it's brand name to represent quality. They will continue to strive to gain the respect of all buyers/sellers. They will drive on until they are number one. But do not confuse corporate moves by a sale company to place themselves in a good light, with the return of the thoroughbred market. There are many hands at work, from all angles, in returning Fasig Tipton to it's former self as the pre-eminent sale company.

One must not misread the headlines and one must read the fine print or there is the chance one can make the wrong investment.

re: It's International Night at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga

I was looking forward to my fave Dynaformer's but now I saw the full sister to IN SUMMATION and darn she is nice looking.
