I think I may have found a couple of Luthier descendants in South Africa as well, but haven't had the time to really check them out.

The sire in Texas is Ben's Ridge.

Herod as a sireline is almost gone worldwide unless he is somewhere in one of the other racing countries like India or South Africa or even Japan.

Only the sons of Indian Ridge left. I still don't understand why the only Indian Ridge sons imported to the US were geldings - go figure.

I looked up the pedigrees and Legal Jousting comes down through the horse that broke my heart: Lorenzaccio. First defeat for Nijinsky. Aargh.

French Seventyfive comes down through Ambiorix and Ambiopoise. Don't either of them have any more descendants? Wasn't Ambiorix a leading sire in the 50's or 60's? Or was he just a leading broodmare sire?

It's sad to think that one of the three TB sire lines is dying out. Although you never know, eh? Didn't the breeder who bred The Tetrarch try to save the Herod line at the beginning of the 1900's? I believe it's still doing OK in France, isn't it?

re: Top 6 Sires-of-Sires at Keeneland September

I am not at home and accordingly don't have immediate access to the Stallion Register, so sorry for the question:

Do you know how many Herod line stallions there are currently standing in N. Am? Anybody on the current Sires List?

Scot's reply: Offhand, I know of Legal Jousting (IRE) in Ontario and French Seventyfive in Oklahoma. Maybe somebody reading this can add a name or two?
