I'd say try Friend's Lake, if you can swing the fee. But I'm no pedigree expert. Mingun would be nice also for your mare.

He was by Lemon Drop Kid in the Keeneland September yearling sale.He was consinged by Mt. Brilliant Farm ,( The breeder of my filly) This colt was sold for $25,000 .Lemon Drop Kid's stud fee is $50,000 .That must be dissapointing to the breeder! The pedigree side to this colt is interesting he is inbred 3x4 to Lassie Dear ! Another plus on his dam's side is Miss Carmie by TV Lark ,The line of Chris Evert,Six Crowns,Chiefs Crown .Miss Carmie is also the second dam of Winning Colors one of only three fillies to win the Kentucky Derby ! Miss Carmie is also the fourth dam of my filly By Hounor and Glory -Fact of Matter by Summer Squall . If anyone out there has an idea of a mate for my filly I'd be very interested, Who would you pick? I'm also curious to how foal sharing agreements work ?

Scot's reply: I'm interested to hear what other readers think. I've studied just enough psychology to be a menace (!) and I'd say yes, it's likely that at least some subconscious level seeing "Indy" in the foal's name will a plus, even if he's actually by a lesser son of A.P. Indy.

re: Keeneland September -- Names, Top Hits, and More

Thanks for the info.

re: Keeneland September -- Names, Top Hits, and More

What an excellent time to buy! Horses that would usually sell for well over $100k are going for much less !
Native Dancer was a foal of 1950 (right?) died in 1967 (I think)so even if he had foals of 1968, these mares would have been 40 when they had their foals.

Would that have been a record for (at least) modern thoroughbreds?

Scot's reply: Good catch. Should be "Raise a Native." (Text has been corrected.) I'll see what I can find on oldest producing dams... I'd guess about age 30 or so.
