Pedigree Shelly I agree with that as well. I just think on the whole he's a very mis managed horse. And he's taking all the blame.

Bright Feather is not the only 20-year old mare Overbrook is consigning.

Also in their consignment is Harbor Springs Hip 1238, dam of Grade 1 winner and sire Boston Harbor.

As well, they've consigned Hip 3044, Terre Haute, the 20-year old dam of Grade 1 winner and sire Tactical Cat.

Shame on Overbrook!

Scott, this very much ties in with your previous blog, 'What becomes of the broodmares.'

When scanning the catalog, I came across Bright Feather, a 1989 Fappiano daughter being sent through the sale by Overbrook Farms.

Bright Feather, stakes placed in one of Canada's classic filly races, the Canadian Oaks, earned a very respectable $105,870.

She did better as a broodmare, producing three stakes winners from her first three foals, one being the Grade 1 winner Albert the Great ($3,012,490). Her other stakes winners were Watch the Bird ($234,823) and Sheer Bliss ($132,383).

Two other foals were stakes placed, the Grade 2 stakes-placed Crimson Hero ($200,134) and Antrim County ($416,630).

Of 10 foals of racing age (one being an unraced 2 year old of 2009), six made it to the races and five were stakes horses.

She is being sold as believed to be NOT pregnant.

I am disgusted that Overbrook would send this mare through the sale. She is 20 years old and owes them nothing. Surely they could have found it in their greedy little hearts to pay the board on this mare. Maybe they could set aside a portion of money they bring in from Storm Cat's frozen semen that they've collected over the years from the dismount (what drips from the penis after a breeding) that they are selling for $20,000 a crack to the Quarterhorse people.

I am disgusted.

In regards for Mr. Hot Stuff he, is a nice horse but, he is cursed with that name.

To Karen in Indiana I agree with you I am a big fan of Mr, Hot Stuff I think he wasn't ready for the derby and I think now they are just running him into the ground to get as much money as they can out of him the poor colt needs a break for the rest of the year to clear his head. And maybe dare I say it he needs to be gelded to run more comfortably it worked for Well Armed.

Wow! da3hoss, I can't believe Mr. Hot Stuff is for sale! Wonder if that means as a racing prospect or for breeding? Gee, poor fella. He's so gorgeous!

NOOOOO!!!!! Argh! He is a great example of a horse being pushed too hard when he wasn't ready for the Derby. I think it traumatized him and he needs someone who will give him patience and time to build up his self-confidence. he ran on the turf a couple of weeks ago and didn't even try, but his workout times are fantastic.

My first impressions? WOW and man, I wish I was rich....someday, hopefully. I'll definitely be pouring over the catalog and also watching the sale online hopefully. I can't wait.
