Has it dawned on anybody else in the world that HOY voters seem to think only American horses are the best in the world? There have been a couple super Japanese horses and now we have Black Caviar. Judging by what's been planned for her this yr., if she makes it to Royal Ascot or Dubai or the Breeder's Cup, I say hand her the award right then. I daresay there's no American horse that can come close to her. My fondest wish would have been to see her vs. Zenyatta. Oh, well...

Do you think if we had a comissioner for horse racing, that would have the same rules apply to all states and not state by state.

With injuries to (not limiting to)

Premier Pegasus, Animal Kingdom, The Factor, Nehro, ArchArchArch, Uncle Mo, Comma to the Top, Jaycito, Toby's Corner, Bind, Dialed In, Paddy O'Prado, etc., it is getting harder for anyone following this sport to follow. Have you ever recalled a year with more injuries?

Lynne, you are exactly right, it was Rajiv who carelessly created the incident that injured Animal Kingdom.

Isn't He Perfect's entry was accepted by the race officials and he had as much right to be there as any other accepted entry.

In response to Steve Wilson's comments: Isn't He Perfect had every right to be in the race, his jockey, Rahiv Maragh however was responsible for coming over into Mucho MAcho Man, who in turn had to come over and clip heels with Animal Kingdom. I understand that Jockey Maragh was upset being taken off Mucho Macho Man and showed his anger by coming over and bumping Mucho Macho Man. Jockey Maragh was suspended for 7 days for creating what could have been a deadly incident. John Velezquez said that this is exactly what happened. Don't blame the horse.

When Steve was asked how to get non-fans interested in racing he gave several great suggestions. The problem is FANS are listening and non-fans are not. They don't know about this show, or this website and frankly don't know why they would want to become a fan period. They don't understand that racing is more than a horse running. These great programs and the fantastic stories need to get out to people who don't know they exist. Respectfully yours

The material was interesting, but I'm very surprised that Mr. Haskin was asked so few questions. He gave great answers to the ones he did get asked. They just were not very many at all. I'm sure a lot of people who submitted questions are disappointed like I am.

Just a quick note to express my appreciation for "Talkin' Horses" and your choice for the first guest of this new edition. Steve Haskin could talk for hours and hours and I would never get tired of it. He has such an extensive knowledge of the sport, its history and so much appreciation for the horses who compete in it. Looking forward to future podcasts and hopefully Steve Haskin will grace us with his presence more than once a year!Thank you, for a memorable moment with my favorite turf-writer. It is a gem!!!

i know this is weeks later but when are you going to start wriering about horses running in the belmont state that don`t belong in that kind of race horses still learning how to run and have made little or no grade 1 purse money i know they trying to get a full field for that race lots of good horses hurt by horses still learning how to run the same thing happen to big brown and no one saying a thing about this problem when owner stop running those big grade 1 winner up against horses just put they horse in a race just to say my horse run in the belmont state then you will see action it a big problem and all you writer not saying nothing about it if a horse don`t run in all three triple crown race why they let him run in one race to knock off a horse that run his heart out in all three race 2007 SS did whaT a k ahould have did in 2011 not run look at that horse on the side line hurt by a horse had no way of winning a race like the belmont state something need to change,

it seems lately that 3yr horses rowd up before the race are winning them, i had always avoided those horses. recently i have been playing them ie shackelford, pool play, pants on fire, midnight interlude, twice the appeal and few others who are getting the win over a calm collected horse. Is there something new going on?

Why do all the handicapers think sidneys candy belongs on turf instead of dirt. he only won once on turf one race does not make a turf star.

I tried to get in on your Talkin Horses, but I guess I did not enter the site right or something.

I follow your advice year in and year out as I compete in the Rode to the Roses virtual stabe contest.

More to the point, I am a avid "Triple Crown" follower and wonder how a person could get involved and race 3 year olds to reach this all allusive feet of the past 30+ years. Do you have any recommendations for me?
