It goes to show which was the "King of Sports" that Art Rooney and Tim Mara followed closely first. I wonder if the major t.v. networks would like to show how Rooney and Mara got their money to buy football teams! Both the articles on the Rooneys and the Maras was great. Keep up the great articles.

I wouldn't bet $500 if I had it, £3 e/w or £5 win are my maximum single bets and not more than £15 to £20 on a Saturday. Usually not even that. The Bookies invariably come out best. Besides i will not bet on my favourite horses (and there are many!!!!) in case I jinx them so that rules out loads of horses! i think money is better spent on hay and grain!!!! Or in my case dog food and treats, chinchilla, gerbil and hamster food!!!!

Nearly time for Stateside on ATR so i am going to watch that and email the presenter from time to time so long as it is not the one who irritates me intensely!!!!

A great article and it is interesting how football and horse racing have close links. That is the case even in this Country (UK) where one of our top trainers, Mick Channon was a World Class Footballer (English variety ie with all the hooligans etc. Do you have hooligans at American Football?) and he switched careers to become a World Class, highly respected and well liked horse Trainer!

There would be some good stories about him as he is quite a character to say the least!!!!!

Other Footballers have or are about to make the switch and I believe Michael Owen now has his own racing stable. From an uncivilised sport to a civilised one hey! Though it is the fans that are largely to blame over here and the fact that some of the players are such Prima Donna's!!!!!! They are overpaid and too much fame has gone to their heads!
