Magic Weisner is a great little horse! As a matter of fact I had asked a friend to put $5.00 across the board on him for Preakness....after the race she called and said " I hope you are not mad but I didnt think he had a shot so I did'nt place the bet". I really do not understand why this horse did'nt get more respect. Oh and just to let everyone know Magic is alive and well in a new career as a riding horse. :)

I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy Alberts and Magic Weisner when they were at Thistledown in 2002. You could just see the special bond between the 2 of them. I always wondered what became of him after the WNV, sad that he never made it back to racing which he really seemed to enjoy. I'm sure that if he still belongs to Nancy (and I'd bet that he does) that his retirement is a happy one.

I understand Magic was trained as a hunter horse in his post retirement.

I was glad to see "Magic" at the Haskell, won again by War Emblem; but victory isn't always celebrated in a winners' circle or with a trophy. Magic and Nancy-this was a great story.

Magic Weisner was a great story and I was fortunate enough to see him race in the Haskell. Wonderful story with a wonderful ending. His trainer Ms Alberts love of him and to bring him back one more time was a heartful story. The bond between the two after his retirement truly up lifting for the industry there should be more happy endings as Magic Meisner retirement.

Magic Weisner was a great story. How about Deputed Testimony in 1983?? Still holds a track record at Pimlico (I think)

I had Harlan's Holiday in that Preakness and whenever I recall that race I think of the remarkable effort put forth by Magic Weisner My hat's off to Nancy

Nancy Alberts deserved far more credit for Magic Weisner's success than she ever received. Yes, he was a horse of a lifetime, but he was also a challenging horse that she brought back from multiple setbacks only to almost lose him at the peak of his career to West Nile. "Magic" is a testament to what a small time trainer can do with a special horse, a little luck, and a lot of good training. It was always a pleasure to see Nancy up on "Magic" in the mornings in Maryland, you never knew who was having more fun, her or the horse.

I'll never forget saying, "who the heck is that?", because I had the trifecta without him. But his story and his owner quickly dispelled my animosity. Too bad about the West Nile - he obviously was a special horse, and I hope his retirement is peaceful.
