I have been in love with Curlin from the beginning and have waited for his foals with great

anticipation. Two little

fillies for a start isn't bad. I have a bet with myself that Curlin will turn out to be a broodmare sire.

Yes, the names are cute and its kinda scary to think they might be used..guess, Zurlin sounds best...

I'm getting lots of chuckles from these comments. So much so that I feel compelled to reply.

@MZ - I'm very glad this touched you personally and brought back fond memories of your friend Murray. I suspect that when my days here are finished, your friend and I will have much to discuss as we relax and enjoy eternity somewhere off in Valhalla.

As for the name suggestions - plenty of good ones here. I thought about the "Zophie's Choice" one too, but thought the whole reference to the Nazi's forcing a mother to choose between her kids might be met with some flak (who knew that referencing an obscure Anglo-Zulu war film would stir up an even greater hornet's nest of unrest than Nazis???). :-)

Now on to the more Sophomoric items:

I would...if I was a reporter. Maybe you missed this, but I'm not a paid reporter...which is why this is in the "community/blogs" section. As such, I infuse a lot of opinion and anecdotal qualities to my posts. That's pretty much a staple of blogging and most people who read "blogs" understand this...since you've been kind enough to offer advice, I'll do the same: Perhaps you should stick to newspapers and leave this "internets" thing to the next generation?

You're right...how dare I have an opinion and double-dog-dare me for sharing it publicly. I forgot that offering my own opinion equates to denying the owners that right. Thank you for pointing that out, comrade. I'll report myself to the Gestapo immediately.

I would, but the doctors only allow me to walk the grounds of the "nervous hospital" once a day for 15 minutes. After that I have my green Jell-O and watch "People's Court" while conversing about the latest fashion trends in Paris with my friendly sock puppet named "Clarice."

Keep 'em coming. And I agree - no more "Kitten" themes or (my personal disdain) "Warren's". We have enough of 'em.

I'm surprised I haven't seen this one, and I wouldn't seriously name the horse this, but it just popped into my head and thought it was hilarious and had to share it! :) What about Curl Power? Hopefully not for his first filly, but it wouldn't surprise me if one his future offspring got that name, lol!

This baby is precious and really deserves a special name. I think the perfect name will at some time present itself and we'll wonder why we didn't think of it. As for Zophie's Choice, I think it is really cute, if you don't know the story, which is a tear jerker. Her name should be a celebration and symbol of her genetic spirit. I guess at this moment, I might go with Zophie's Curlz.

Curlin's little baby is a living doll. She is so gorgeous - just like daddy!! I'm a little bias. Curlin is my all-time great equine love. How about "Estrella Roja" - Red Star in Spanish. I'm sure she'll have Curlin's beautiful golden red color and be a big star.

I agree with not using too many versions of Curlin's name - there are enough "kittens" and "Tiz"'s out there.

For all you guys complaining about the references to Zulu, the movie, and I just gotta say that one of my best friends really, really loved that movie and kept trying to make us all agree that it was one of the best war movies ever made. We always argued with him until the cows (Curlins?) came home and could never get him to change his mind about that movie.

Murray is gone now and we all miss him.

Has anyone noticed that in the pic of his first foal on bloodhorse, the filly has a head marking like Rachel Alexandra.....I thought that was cute since Jackson owns Curlin and RA....
