Just the thought of Zenyatta on that long stretch at Belmont gives me chills. Her giant strides would carry her past that field like she was inhaling them. And then she would prick her ears as if to say,

"that was easy, now what?".... like she did in the BC Classic. I was on the Rachel bandwagon until I watched the Classic. Zenyatta is just too impressive, and big horses like her get better with age. Until somebody beats her, she's the best!

I don't see any photo finish here and when the real race hits the track what you will see is that all the questions will be answered so decisively that there won't be any need for another race.

I didn't know you wrote this!!! Good job! You go girl! As you can see, I let MY imagination run wild and came up with a Dead Heat. But on Apple Blossom day I'll be rooting for Zenyatta...no for Rachel...no for Zenyatta...Ah shoot! I think I just blew a circuit.

Rachelsalterego - I don't want to knock Zen because I really love her too, but Rachel may be more tired at the end because she RUNS the WHOLE race while Zen saves her energy and only runs the last half of the race, passing tired horses if there is a fast pace. Different styles that's all. So don't knock Rachel for being tired at the end of a hard race. Same with people who say Rachel can't do longer distances like Zen does. If Zen ran near the front the whole race, she might not like the longer distances either and might come home tired at the end at any distance. Two great fillies/mares. I prefer Rachel and think she's shown more and done more but wouldn't knock either one.

I've bought from this seller before - an awesome 14+ hour ZENYATTA TIME CAPSULE and I can just imagine this one would be just as good.

I really wish that they would just have a match race-no other horses to get in the way-just carry their speed for 1 1/8. Everyone is so paranoid that one or both will break down because of the memory of the great Ruffian. This is nonsense-match raceshave gone on since the beginning of horse racing.

Rachelsalterego-I dont think it matters wheter a horse is tired after a race if they cross the line first.

tvnewsbadge-that is one of the most uneducated statements I have ever heard!

I actually wrote this a while ago, probably right around the time the idea of the AB was brought up by Cella.

It wasn't meant to be a version of the AB, more of a BC Distaff and AB mix kind of. I'm mixing the best of this year and last year together, which is why Bambera and LIS are there.

Well, you'll need to make one modification right off the bat. Life Is Sweet is running for the Dubai World Cup. No Apple Blossom for her.

Not sure Bambera will be there are the wire either.

There looks to be some speed in this race. That will help Zenyatta, too.

tvnewsbadge, great horses losing to another great horse (or even in an "Upset" ) has never kept a horse from the Hall of Fame...

How many horses in the Hall Of Fame were undefeated?

Zenyatta wins, Bambera a nose behind, and Rachel settles for show, 1 1/2 lengths behind.

Isn't it interesting that all the blogs are filled with comments to the effect that Zenyatta will rule the day when she and RA meet? The sportswriters just don't get it! Zen is indefatigable, whereas Rachel was exhausted after her best efforts. Zen is the horse for the ages, perhaps the best of them all. I pray for the well-being of all of them. They are all special.

A lot of respect for Bambera in that story. I'd figure she'd wilt under american pace pressure. Good story either way. I think Rachel would make her move very early and give the slip to everyone. But Zenyatta would catch her anyway. I can imagine those two being 15 clear of everyone else. They're going to bring the best out of each other.

Sounds more like the Distaff Nightmare.

If Zenyatta and Rachel don''t finish one-two in any combination, horse racing will have lost it's greatest marketing gimmick of the year.

They need to bogitimatize some way to keep Bambera off the track. If she beats either Zenyatta or Rachel, the loser can not only kiss off HoTY 2010, but ANY chance whatsoever of EVER getting into the Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
