Zenyatta's team does not want to ship her at all. She does not ship well. They will keep her in California and in top form and race in the Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita. Then keep her sharp and happy and ship her at the right time to Churchill Downs for the BC. This teams goal is to keep Zenyatta safe, happy, top form, and then go for all the bananas in the big show. If she wins the BC she gets HOY and $3 million. Giving her almost $10 million in lifetime earnings. These guys are smart. Why ship, and work this horse into the ground before the BC? They have nothing to prove to anyone. Just promote the horse to the best record ever and gross the top earnings. By the way, Zenyatta is not just a poly horse, best wins were on dirt in the Apple Blossom and she is a mile and a quarter horse. She is more likely to be beat in a mile an sixteenth or mile and an eighth. BC looks to be perfect for her. Just please no rain. She does not run on a wet track. Also she needs a fast horse to set a good stiff pace. If the field is slow she will have a hard time beating Blame.

With respect to Jason and others with the opinion that Z should be shipping east, I say we need to not critisize, but instead need to appreciate that they've done right by this nice mare and trust them to continue making decissions that are best for the horse, not for the people.

Sorry, Jason- I know this has been shut down, but I see there have been some posts since then and I hope this one makes it on here.

IMHO, one of the most overlooked and important factors that make a Superhorse is soundness, and the fastest horse on the planet is nothing without it. Rachel, as incredible as she is, nearly missed the opportunity to continue with her racing career because of injury. What we are witnessing with Zenyatta is truly remarkable. Not only does she have the talent, but this mare is 6 years old, still sound and competing in the ranks of G1 company. How many times have we seen what would have been a Superhorse but they suffered a career and sometimes life ending injury? I strongly believe we would have had a Triple Crown winner and future Superhorse in Charismatic, yet we'll never know. And the great Ruffian, as amazing as she was, lost her life because of her injury. Racing has lost a lot of support and interest- people are sick to death of seeing Barbaro stories. We so needed not only a horse with a ton of talent, but a good, solid, sound racehorse- Z has the whole package! Hats off and a big "thank you" to her connections!

Bob, that would be great, but have you not been hearing JJ screaming that RAchel is not ready yet. We have been waiting a year and a half and she still aint ready to face Zenyatta. Truth to be known, Bob, JJ has no plans of racing Zenyatta............If by chance RA can ever win a grade 2 race, do you think he would turn around and cut his own throat by putting RA in a race with Zenyattta?? I dont even forsee it in the BCC.

Z is a great horse, enjoy what she gives us, great trainer and owners not to mention the best equine entertainment we've EVER seen. Try to keep the testosterone in check.

Let's put this to rest and have Bob Kulina, at Monmouth Park, setup a race with Zenyatta, Rachel Alexandra, and the best male horses in the country. I am sick and tired of the bashing Zenyatta and her connections keep getting from the Eastern press. This should happen right after the Haskell and I'm sure with Monmouth's increase in purses and a race of this magnatude would place racing back in the spotlight where it needs to be...

I am talking about peak conditioning ... I don't care if Ruffians Mother Goose was at Aqueduct, Santa Anita, or somewhere up in Montana...

My point was both of their peak conditioning would have compared favorably against each other...

Bob Z, give it a rest. Why don't you name all the winners that have come out of the 2009 BC ? Rachel held off 3 G1 winning males who each took a shot at her and she did what no filly or mare had ever done so give it a rest. AND please stop with the Ruffian nonsense. Rachel ran on the same track and the same dirt and ran a full second and a half faster then Ruffian in the Mother Goose and she took on males and beat them while your Ruffian couldn't handle 1 male. Don't try to rewrite history.

Seeing that Rachel isn't winning, maybe they should send her to Lucas too. that would be quite the story, MTB and Rachel as stable mates. The Classic is on the dirt at Churchill this year why don't you name all the G1 winning horses Zenyatta has beaten on dirt and then I will name all the ones Rachel has. Ready go.
