Well if that's true and I'm with you about not enough stamina only speed horses-then we need some Seabiscuit horses, real farmhorses. When you watch movies about Saratoga and how heavy some of the jockeys were and the muscles on the horses-you wonder how the heck they managed not running into each other more or into the crowd. It was like a free-for-all. Jockeys holding on to the manes, dirt in the faces of the horse and jockey and even crowd members but those were the Days of horseracing And I love to watch those races. The precautions are needed and speed is of the essence but you have to wonder if we haven't taken away from the real sport of horseracing instead of making it the sport of Kings. I'm still hoping though- if you pet Alex on his shoulder you feel the toughness there-I can only imagine what his heart looks like. So I still say "Go Alex's Kids!" I have to say you know your horses.

I think MS Higgins said it best about the tax people ruining the party by taking their cut. Your lovely wife probably would have been much more compassionate regarding her share. That would have left the rest for you to undoubtedly fritter away. I have a friend who just likes the races for the entertainment value and not as a gambling vehicle. When you and I suffer through times like this, i think that my friend might be on to something good.

Sorry for ya Jason. But it takes a big man to write a blog about it. We all have felt your same pain at some time in our horse-playing days- believe me. It hurts, but ya learn and go on. Maybe because of this, it will help ya hit a good one down the road. Think positive Jason. You have given me alot of great insight into racing and I appreciate it.

Wish you would of won that super Jason because even though I usually dont agree with your picks you have done alot for the people that love horse racing. I felt sick about not winning the tri because I used the 7 & 11 with 5 other horse and still couldnt pick a winner. The 11 was used because of you as I had already scratched him but took a second look after you liked him so much. You did your part and tried to help me anyways.

The Belmont will be another challenge and does anyone have a favorite in mind? Besides the usual favorites like Ice Box. I guess the horses that gets my interst the most is either Yawanna Twist or Make Music for Me. The music guy just might like the dirt more than the plastic stuff and Yawanna likes to run his heart out everytime. What does everyone else think?

Fran : It's nice to be positive about a TC winner happening someday. I really don't think it will happen in my lifetime, the colts nowadays do not have that foundation anymore, the stamina from their moms and pops are no longer there. We're happy to see them run 10 times...once they get that G1 win, owners start thinking about retiring and breeding the horse. 20 years from now, there won't be any races left because the horses of the future will all have REGAL bloodlines but can't run 5 furlongs without breaking down.

I'm looking for the Curlin babies to hopefully break that trend as Curlin did run a lot and ran distance races and on different surfaces so hopefully his babies will be more durable and have stamina. I'm also looking forward to Zenyatta's babies, they'll be bred for long distances and hopefully, one of her babies will be the one to break that TC drought, wouldn't that be cool!

Thank you Dublin for the thrill of watching you in the Derby and Preakness. I will never forget watching you and Smarty Jones son Backtalk, strut down the turf at Churchill, side by side! that alone was racing history. Two great Dads, two great sons. Catch your breath and win the Haskell, Travers and Breeder's Cup!

Well it looks like next year Afleet Alex's young can win the Triple Crown-and it will happen someday. So now I'm looking at Nick Zito for the Belmont-

Draynay, I think Shelly was actually talking about handicapping contest, not a jump on the wagon contest. If it was jump on the wagon, you're the runaway winner.

Shelly : I proposed the same to Jason in the other blogs about having a contest where everyone bets a virtual $100.00 and post their exacta, trifecta and superfecta picks. Bet the 100.00 anyway you like but with a minimum of $2 bets and the one with the most profit wins bragging rights and a Blood Horse T-shirt and baseball cap (I'm sure Jason can get those for free!) :)

I'm sure that would be a very popular blog and might even surpass that Zenyatta blog !

LOL thanks draynot. It's even worse than I thought, he did it to himself! I guess that's pretty much expected, he's done it often enough from the little time I've been blogging here that I'm not surprised at all.

He touts FD so much that I feel this horse might call in sick for the Belmont if he finds out how much Draynay touts him.

Giacomo certainly would not be the first horse to run better on dirt than synthetics. I still remember my girl friend putting 8 quarters on Giacomo in the Derby...she was that broke. She was the only person screaming at the off track. I read this blog for months and she hits the exacta in this years Derby and had Lookin at Lucky and a Jackson Bend exacta going in the Preakness. Still have not seen the photo for place in that one. I thought Jackson got up in time.

Giacomo, at 4, won the G2 San Diego Handicap, showed in the Goodwood and Strubs, both G2, and as a 4 yr od earned $571k. If that's a fluke, he's welcome in my barn any day.

That was my nickname to Draynay...but he stopped responding to it lol. What was the deal about the pink dress ?? Sounds like he lost a bet to someone which is kind of expected but for someone who has not pick a real winner, why on God's green earth would he bet to wear a pink dress...Just to quote him :
