A bit late to this party, better than never I suppose. Thank you Mr. Shandler for the blogs. I thoroughly enjoyed this one as well as Breeders' Cup Chat. Your entries, and the comments that followed, have always been entertaining to read. I only found your blogs as recently as last summer, wish I had found them sooner, and contributed a bit more, but I greatly enjoyed the year I did get to read. Also enjoyed watching editions of That Handicapping Show, even if I didn't agree all the time. Best wishes to you in your new venture, you seem a very likable guy, I'm sure you'll find it prosperous. Thanks for all your work and contributions, it was always a great read and will definitely be missed on here.

I have been away on business, just now home and checking in to see what is going on. And i read that you are leaving Jason. You cannot be serious?

Sometimes your answers to people cracked me up, literally. Most of the time i knew what someone was asking for when they made a stupid comment. I was afraid you would make fun of me because i know i made some stupid comments, but i love the horses. Not a handicapper, but love the sport.

You mentioned in a post on your own blog "your replacement." I need to warn that person that

if someone is being hired as your replacement, they are in for having

a job they will never be able to perform. There is only one Jason Shandler. Mold broken, enough said.

May the best of everything that isn't tied down Jason come your way as you start a new sequel in Florida with your family.

I went to school with a guy that you remind me so much of that it is uncanny. He was mean, tacky, truthful to a fault and could be quite hateful and it was all only a ploy to keep others from knowing he had a huge heart! We became super friends. And are to this day,

60 years later.

Cheers and safe trips Jason. Let Bob or Ted know where you are so we can keep tabs on you. I feel just like Paula Higgins.

Thanks for the chance to interchange thoughts with so many neat people. I know hundreds will miss you. I sure will.

Laz : I agree with Carlos, call Sylvester, Jylvester again. LOL. Actually I think we made him cry, he stopped responding.

Ranagulzion : You may be right about DNB but for some reason, I just don't feel he's a G1 horse. I think he's going to be winning G2 and G3 races but against the top level, I don't know if he's capable. I'll probably put him on the bottom of my exactas as he'll be at a good price.

Where's Jason and his tri and super plays? Is there a THS tomorrow?

Good luck with the new venture, Jason. I am down here in SW Florida so maybe I will run into you at one of the south Florida tracks or Tampa Bay Downs while you are in the sunshine state. You will love the winters, trust me.

Looks like a chalky Preakness but interestingly enough the last time a Derby runner up won the Preakness was 1993, and the closest any runner has come in the past decade or so was Hard Spun (3rd) in 2007. Many thought he was a lock at the Preakness distance. Then again, there was mucho pace in that 2007 race...I think Pretension may be used early and get up on Bode...pressing him. Pretension is a NY bred that has run a little, and recently wore down My Adonis at Pimlico, and is bred to go classic distances (Bluegrass Cat over Street Cry).

Food for thought for the Bode is a lock betting machines...

Michael Matz is still "haunted" by the slow start of Union Rags. It seems Matz really believe UR is a distance horse. I'm not one to question a trainer but I just can't buy into his reasoning of UR getting squeezed at the start as the reason for UR not winning the Kentucky Derby. Julien didn't help but I don't think it would've mattered. WTDW also had problems at the start but he finished strongly and could've gotten 3rd with one more jump. Why not try him in the Preakness ? Less horses and shorter distance, I don't know what makes him think UR can get the 12F distance but he's the trainer so I'm not going to question him. I just hope he doesn't ruin a perfectly good horse trying to find out how "good" he is.

Florida? Have you lost your mind? Hope you like to sweat. I remember being at a sping training game in March. It was 85 and felt like 110. I will miss you and your always interesting stories. I rarely blog, but, I always read. My favorite bloggers: Carlos in Cali, Pedigree Ann, Coldfacts,Higgins, Bob from Beantown, Draynay, and the KY Vet(although I've often wondered why he's so angry-maybe it's because he's a professional). Now, what am I going to do? Thanks Jason. They could have run around that track 3 more times and Zenyatta was never getting by Blame. Garrett had her measured. God Bless You.
