In his article , I came across a filly "Two Bob " ( The Porter - Blessings by *Chicle ) She is my mare Wasted Words ( Honour and Glory -Fact of Matter by Summer Squall ) sixth dam ! It really made my day ! I knew she came from a top class Calumet family ,but being a student of pedigree i am always searching for information . Getting back to the subject , Two year olds back in the 30's and such seemed to benefit from getting a solid background as a 2yr old in preparation for the classics at age 3 ! These days 2yr olds are treated like glass the ones that make it to the Classics at 3 are lucky to see the track at 4 !! We need to import stamina from somewhere or it may be doubtful to ever see another Triple Crown Winner ???

Ian's reply: Shelly, That's pretty cool that your mare traces directly to Two Bob. I'm sure you've also noticed that the one-and-only Chris Evert came from the same family as your mare Wasted Words. Alan Porter recently wrote an interesting post on linebreeding to Chris Evert in the pedigree of Blind Luck. You can see Alan's comments here: More Of A Good Thing.
