It was another weekend that reminded that the thoroughbred world is getting to be a very small placed with German-bred, Platini, appearing as broodmare sire of two grade one winners in the East.

There is actually quite a lot going on in this pedigree - linebreeding to Red God, and the combination of Sassafras and Shantung, from the same Barley Corn family.

In the Hong Kong Champions & Chater Cup-G1 at Sha Tin that was also ran on Sunday May31, it was won by 5-year-old horse Mr Medici (IRE), by Medicean who was less than a length 3rd behind Giant's Causeway in the 2000 St. James Palace Stakes, but improved as a 4-year-old and captured 3 Group One races. Mr Medici is also out of a Platini (GER) mare. Mr Medici's dam Way For Life (GER) was inbred 5x3 to Little Hut, through Northfields and Habitat.
