I too own a granddaughter of Nijinsky. I guess is son, Dance God, though not a great stallion, was stunning to behold. Anybody know anything about Flaming Page's personality. My Little Nipper is nothing like Nijinsky; she's fairly calm, loves to race even dead lame at 24, and is 200% self-assured.

When Flaming Page produced Fleur it.s not too often a Mother and Daughter would go on to be Broodmares of Epsom Derby winners,it truly is a unique story.

Her third live foal Minsky besides being the champion two year old in Ireland went on to win the Durham Cup at Woodbine. It almost makes you want to cry that she did not produce more live foals.

On Sunday at Woodbine Roan Inish gets her chance to emulate Flaming Page and La Lorgnette and win the Oaks, and Queen's Plate but even if she does'nt I have all the confidence in the world she will go on to produce some really nice offspring.

Bull Page is out of Our Page, who produced 5 foals, all colts, and all top-level stakes winners.

Yes, you mean Ginger Brew (by Milwaukee Brew); she was 2nd in last year's Queen's Plate.

Her dam, Coral Necklace (by Conquistador Cielo) is amazing... her first 3 foals are stakes winners from 3 very different sires. Coral Necklace is out of full sister to Bunting (G1SP dam of G1SP Vision and Verse), tracing back to Bebopper (dam of Stop the Music and Hatchet Man).

Terry: lots of fillies run in the Plate but I'll always remember when Fanfreluche finished second to Almoner in 1970 and the comments were: would you rather own a gelding that won the Plate or a filly that finished second?

We all know the answer to that one! Lovely mare who generated a great family.

BTW, most recently: last year I think Milwakee Brew was 2nd and Tasty Temptation was 4th.

I'm waiting for the entries to come out tomorrow for the Plate on Sunday -- we might have some fillies this year too.

I have been researching Flaming Page ( Bruce Lowe family No 8 ) Her 3rd Dam , Flaming Top by Triple Crown winner Omaha ,is very interesting to me . I've been studying pedigrees for quite a while and you very rarely come across the name Omaha ! I guess breeding Omaha to a daughter of Man O'War made the difference !

Isn't it funny how fillies have no trouble winning the Queen's Plate against colts and over the same distance as the Kentucky Derby? Owners don't hesitate to run the girls in the Canadian Triple Crown, and when given the opportunity the fillies do very well indeed.

Weird how that happens, though. Wasn't her sire Bull Page? And didn't Bull Page's own dam, Our Page, only have colts?

Wonder if there's some kind of strange genetic thing happening there.

Fleur's best shot to continue her female line was probably through her only stakes-winning daughter, Flower Princess (by Majestic Prince). Unfortunately, Flower Princess died at 7, leaving only two foals, including one stakes-winning filly who didn't produce much.

Fleur's stakes-placed granddaughter Dancing Halo also died young (at 8), leaving two foals, both fillies, who have produced no black type.

Too bad...

Flaming Page's Queen's Plate was my first horse race on TV. I'll never forget Flaming Page. I'm glad she threw at least one filly to try to keep up the maternal side of her family.

This last part sounds like another horse we know although he seems to have put that behind him now.
