Richard Hannon just keeps churning out 2 year old winners. One who really caught the eye to-day at Newmarket was Libranno who won the July Stakes to record his second win in as many starts. He is a son of the young sire Librettist, who is a half-brother to Dubai Destinastion.

It's hard to know how much history Richard Hannon had with The Troggs as in interviews he does not like to talk about those days. But his record as a racehorse trainer speaks for itself. Paco Boy won the Lockinge Stakes with ease so his good second to Goldikova in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot shows what fine form that mare is in again this season.

I'm afraid I'm old enough to remember The Troggs. They were headed the legendary Reg Pressley, otherwise a painter and decorator.

I believe Richard Hannon was also drummer for Dave Dee, Dozey, Beaky, Mick and Tich, who had a hit with "Legend of Xanadu" I don't know which one Richard Hannon was.

I guess he might have the three best male milers in Europe, with Canford Cliffs, Dick Turpin and Paco Boy.

Back in the 1960's Richard Hannon was a drummer in a rock band called The Troggs and they had a no.1 one hit called Wild Things. As you can imagine going on to become a trainer of racehorses is quite a different pace of life. A noted trainer of 2 year olds he has really hit the jackpot this year with two of the best milers in Europe, Canford Cliffs and Dick Turpin.
