Plato described the lost island of Atlantis as an "alluvial seaport."

Alluvial's dam is Hail Atlantis.

You are so right. Alluvial was a wonderful broodmare and Alluvial (to me) will always be the one you mentioned. Not sure it was wise to name a stallion after a mare. Perhaps the stallion, Alluvial will be a good broodmare sire :)

That is odd that a colt would have been named after a well-known broodmare...hmmmm.

What a sire's pedigree !! His female family is deep in quality black type !

For some reason though , every time I see the name Alluvial , I think of the dam of Slew O' Gold ! The mare Alluvial , By Buckpasser - Bayou by Hill Prince , isn't quite as close to the Horse , Alluvial on the female line's side . She was a good broodmare , producing champ Slew O' Gold as well as Belmont winner Coastal and Dokki , dam of JC Cup Gold winner Aptitude .I will always be a fan of Slew O 'Gold 's because he was the first horse I followed closely when I became a pedigree fanatic ! Forgive me for going off the subject !
