You might not get the really dominant individual these days or seperation from the pack (although Sea the Stars didn't do badly), but I get the impression that this is an awfully good group, and that doesn't include Workforce and Harbinger at twelve furlongs.

The ground came up a little soft in France for both Goldikova and Paco Boy, but they still run well and after all the winner, Makfi won the 2000 Guineas and reportably ran into problems after that.

The QE11 at Ascot has been chosen for Canford Cliffs because of his exceptional record at the track winning the Coventry Stakes at 2 and the St. James Palace Stakes this year.

Although Dick Turpin did not get the 10 furlongs of the Juddmonte International he still is a top class miler and it is hoped that both he and Canford Cliffs will be kept in training at 4.

re: Makfi Magnifique

John,

Looks like there are some very strong form lines between a really good group, Canford Cliffs, Makfi, Paco Boy, Goldikova (allowing they probably weren't at their best in the softer ground at the weekend), Rip Van Winkle, Twice Over, Byword, and Dick Turpin (probably didn't stay yesterday).

It's a race where the going on the day will probably have a major say.

Richard Hannon's other 3 year old, top class miler Dick Turpin disappointed at 10 furlongs in the Juddmonte International while Rip Van Winkle showed he was back to his best at a distance he seems to prefer. Another tilt at the Breeders Cup Classic seems to be on the agenda again this year.
