Byron, when I read the title of the post, the first race that came to my mind, was that jockey club you mentioned. Great race, great sires and three different ways of running; power (Sadler's Wells), elasticity (Darshaan) and long stride (Rainbow Quest).

Milwaukee Brew was in there too.

Good point.

You could have put the 2003 Pacific Classic in though...not a bad 1-2 in that race!

Probably not-- that's a serious trifecta, but of course the French Derby isn't happening this weekend...

The 1988 Travers is the right answer. No questions.

Gold Fever (like Distorted Humor a son of Forty Niner) was leading sire in NY, could sire a good horse.

Clearly the 1988 Travers contained, as a group, the better sires. Firstly, Honour And Glory and Gold Fever are in a far lesser league than the remaining six. Of those six, I'd rank them as follows:

1. Seeking The Gold

2. Distorted Humor

3. Dynaformer

4. Elusive Quality

5. Brian's Time

6. Forty Niner

Seeking The Gold's legacy will likely last many generations.
