I was so sad when I heard the news about Real Quiet. He was a great champion and tried so hard. He should have won the Triple Crown.

I 've had the rare experience of seeing Real Quiet in the pasture at Penn Ridge Farms in Middletown Pa. ! The farm is a beautiful State of the Art facility , located just down the road from my Grandparents home on SR 441 . When I saw him , he looked happy and content, a be

autiful horse ! I'ts very sad to think of him gone ! He really tried his heart out ! He was the closest horse we've had lately to a Triple Crown winner , just the matter of a few inches :( Real Quite , you'll not be forgotten !

You broke my heart again. First, I swore you would be Triple Crown Champ and now you're leaving so soon. You ran one of the most thrilling Triple Crown campaigns I have ever seen. I will look for you racing across the stars at night handsome.

I was present when Real Quiet won his first stakes race at Churchill Downs on the Thanksgiving weekend before his Derby win. I was not smart enough to bet him, but one of my houseguests, a kid of 15 or so did. It was his first bet on a horse. I bet he still remembers. What a great sire he was and what a shame to lose him in such a weird accident!

It is so difficult to lose a young horse from a freak accident. He had the heart of a champion, he never quit.

It was hard to see him lose the Belmont, fans have waited so long for another triple crown winner. I can only hope that with his many moves he was in the hands of people who gave him the respect and care he deserved. RIP great champion and thanks for all your thrilling races.

What a sad and shocking end to such a wonderful horse! He gave all of us horse lovers many thrills during his racing career! He always tried his heart out and did his best, win or lose. My condolences to his owners, friends and to Bob, who I am sure is very upset to hear the news... Has a complete autopsy been done? Maybe he had a heart attack or stroke which caused him to rear and fall... Such a freak thing! I will miss him and his future foals.

I was shocked at the passing of Real Quiet. I was more shocked when I read the article explaining how he died. There seems to be some discrepancies. So sad. He was one of my favorites.

One of my all time favorites. The closest to winning the triple crown since it was last won. He saved me on Derby Day. I was down big time and loaded up on him and had the dollar trifecta along with VICTORY GALLOP & INDIAN CHARLIE. Still have the t-shirt.

To win the American Triple Crown is a very difficut thing to do but lose it in the closest of finishes as what happened to Real Quiet in his year must have been very hard for all concerned. Sorry to hear about his passing at 15.

Very sad to hear this. He was much too young and he was a brilliant horse with alot of heart. This has been a pretty miserable day in horse racing. I won't ever forget him.

Real Quiet was a terrific champion, coming out of nowhere to thrill the racing world. What a great ride he gave us in 1998, all the way down to the wire at Belmont. I can hear Tom Durkin's voice right now, when he shouted, "Real Quiet has taken the lead! He's coming to the eighth pole! Twenty years in the waiting, one furlong to go!" Even though the Belmont was denied, he was part of one of the most memorable races in Triple Crown history. RIP.

What a shock to see that the Fish is gone. Thanks for the vid recap. We need to appreciate the horses while they are with us.

On a lighter note, the Hollywood Gold Cup advert with Bob Baffert as Austin Powers was hilarious.

His Belmont was the last I attended. I was so depressed. He tried so hard and lost by so little. He will always be a Triple Crown winner to me. I do hope his son, Midnight Lute becomes a great stallion so that we shall never forget the little colt nicknamed "The Fish"!

RIP Real Quiet. For some reason it was your time to go and it hurts as you never got the recognition you really deserved. I was at your Preakness race and what a magnificient animal you were after seeing your Derby win I just knew you were going to be a Triple Crown winner, but 2 out of 3 is not bad, that is more than a lot of Derby trail winners did. Run with Barbaro at Rainbow Bridge.

Very sad. Handsome boy. We had a son of his who ran here in Vancouver, Quiet Cash. He was champion sprinter here a few years ago, now has some runners of his own. Real Quiet made the triple crown trail a real thrill that year, thanks buddy, have fun running with the other champions already up there.
