It gives a lot more information that I have to figure out, although I've got a pretty good idea what it means.

That is one of the many neat aspects of this new report. It really takes it from just being a rating and a couple of horses that are bred on the cross to a "who, where, how and why" giving the breeder really detailed information on the horses bred on similar lines enabling them to make more informed mating and purchasing decisions.

We hope that this can take thoroughbred nicking forward into a much more open environment and we have a number of new innovations slated for 2011. If you have any ideas of your own to add to the Truenicks report, or any other aspects of Truenicks, please don't hesitate to contact Ian Tapp (itapp@bloodhorse.com)

The idea of the nick rating in general is to distinguish how the cross itself is different from the sire line or broodmare sire line specifically. The new data points are there to add more definition of what's going on with the cross--surfaces, distances, stakes winner %, colts/fillies, etc. As you point out, Blame is one example where the cross has taken on certain unique trends.

For Blame's cross (your example report)is interesting that Arch-Seeking the Gold gets greater win distance than Arch OR StG. 'the whole is greater than the sum of its parts' so to speak.
