I did not mean to be rude infact to be quite honest about it a marathon for thoroughbreds here in North America at a mile and three-quarters is quite generous as there is no major Stakes or very few races for that matter at 2 miles plus. But I suppose it all depends were you were brought up and for me that means racing at 2 miles plus was a common occurance. Indeed to this day I still look forward to races like the Queen Alexandra Stakes at 2 miles 6 furlongs and the Ascot Gold Cup at 2 and a half miles with great entusiasm.&lt;/p&gt;
