Personally, I think it's a little sad that Empire Maker has gone already. It's funny to think that if Mine That Bird had got blocked in the rail, Pioneerof the Nile, from Empire Maker's second crop, would have been a Derby winner.

Empire Maker had 19 stakes winners, 10 graded, and 5 graded one from his first four crops of three-year-olds, and grade two winner Battle Plan was probably a top-class horse in the making. I also liked that he was turning into a very good cross for Seattle Slew/A.P. Indy.

Love Mineshaft, tried to get in for $20,000, then they went to $25,000.

What a shame. My mare got an A+ with him.

Mineshaft is a better sire, at this point, than E.M. I guess I am just surprised that Juddmonte would sell a wonderful classic winner like Empire Maker; ...I expect that more from American farms who look quickly at a horse's results and the bottom line. We will probably get little news about him...how is Charismatic doing overseas?

mineshaft is a top notch stallion. in my own opinion i think he is a better sire than empiremaker.

I dont feel that they "quit" on Empire Maker. They were obviously made an offer which they couldnt refuse. He would probably have had a full book this year. I have spoken with many people who had plans to breed to him this season....
