I have a Hawkster mare who I have finally been able to get to Northern Afleet (had to ship from Florida), and she is currently in foal to him. Besides the Afleet Alex/Unforgettable Max copycat here (Northern Afleet x Hawkster mare), my mare's younger half sister is by Afleet, earned $250,000 or so on the track, and has produced a graded stakes-placed filly who also earned over $200K, I believe. So it's an extra strong cross. Plus, I don't ever come across any Northern Afleets out of Hawkster mares(except for the 2 out of Maggy Hawk, of course), so I'm led to believe that this foal will pretty much be a one of a kind type deal when he goes for sale. Even Maggy Hawk herself has not been bred back to Northern Afleet, and I just don't get that one at all. Anyway, my mare sure can throw a beautiful & correct offspring so I'm very hopeful.

Ps We liked the Northern Afleet / Devil's Bag Cross we went to Saint Afleet with My Agenda for a 3x3 Halo through Saint Ballado and Devil's Bag,your thoughts RjA

With this being a successful and note worthy cross, how about taking a closer look at another Halo line mare Angelic Song mated to Sadler's Wells for Sligo Bay...Why just a "c" rating ? You're thoughts Thanks

Alan responds: Thank you for you question. You mention looking at Angelic Song with Sadler's Wells - the mating that produced Sligo Bay - only rating a "C." However, when I checked, the mating is rated "A++", with Sligo Bay being the best winner on the cross. The Sligo Bay/My Agenda mating is only a "C" because it is based on the Sadler's Wells/Halo cross rather than the Sadler's Wells/Hail to Reason cross as is the case with Sligo Bay's own pedigree. The inbreeding to the brothers Saint Ballado and Devil's Bag should be interesting.

I have watching Northern Afleet even before Afleet Alex and I always hoped he would get the chance to breed to better mares. Lets hope this is the start of something big.
