What a pedigree and what a namesake.

To have a 15 length lead at one point and still go on to win by 6 lengths in a race of this calibre is magnificence at it's best. So now the question is can he get the Derby distance of 12 furlongs? He will not be running in the Dante Stakes at York so it will be up to his training to decide if his next race will be the Derby or the one mile St. James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

My gut tells me that Frankel is overhyped, and will prove a disappointment by year's end. This horse is no Nijinsky II, or Dubai Millennium, nor likely among the better milers of history.

If Frankel can emulate him as a racehorse I would be more than happy with that. Here is a look at some of his main competitors-Pathfork, his American owners are very keen to have the Breeders Cup Classic on his agenda, unbeaten as a 2 year old one of his wins was against Casamento who went on to win the Racing Post Trophy so the form is rock solid. Casamento also will be running in this race.-Roderic O'Connor, who like Frankel is by Galileo finished last season by winning a Group 1 in France after running second to Frankel in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes. -Native Khan, who won the other important English prep for the Guineas, the Craven Stakes over course and distance at Newmarket. This is a high class renewal of the 2000 Guineas and if Frankel can win, he should go on to becoming a really great racehorse.
