Sorry for any confusion... In this particular blog, I chose to use GSW because I was dealing with Danzig and A.P. Indy, and they've sired plenty of GSW.

For Danzig/Secretariat, the 2 GSW are also the only SW. With A.P. Indy/Mr. P, there are 15 GSW and 21 total SW, so this cross is actually more impressive if you added in all SW, but leaving it with GSW illustrates the point.

TrueNicks considers all SW in the calculation; using only GSW across the entire population would be limiting. SW is a good objective threshold, and then seeing the top horses on the cross (listed on each TrueNicks report) helps the breeder/user interpret the quality subjectively.

Your analysis is based on graded stakes winners only, yet your closing comment "TrueNicks requires at least two stakes winners (or a large number of starters) before rating a specific cross" makes me wonder what the basis of your analysis really is.
