Dawn Approach came back to win his second race at Naas last

Wednesday evening in impressive fashion and will now be pointed to one of the 2 year old races at Royal Ascot.

That very consistent American filly Riskaverse who was by the recently deceased Dynaformer was bred to Galileo.She

produced a filly called Pink Damsel,unraced at 2 she made her 3 year old debut at Newmarket to-day over 12 furlongs.

Taking the lead 4 furlongs out she hung on gamely and more

should be heard from her.

New Approach was another successful son of Galileo being a

champion at 2 and going on to win the Epsom Derby and the

Irish and English Champion Stakes at 3,the latter in course

record time.To-day at The Curragh he had his first 2 year

old runner,Dawn Approach and after being prominent throughout went on to win the 5 furlong contest in good fashion.New Approach should go on to have many good 2 year

old winners this year.

I recently saw three very disappointing races by Galileo's offspring - two in Australia (as mentioned above) and a 7,500 claimer who ran 4th as the 4to5 choice at a cheap track and caused the trifecta payoff to explode. I didn't like this favorite whatsoever in the post parade.

Today Galileo renewed my faith when his offspring won with authority by at least 4 or 5 lengths in Dubai at 1 and one eighth and was owned by another Al Maktoum family member.

Putting aside the "spin of the genetic wheel", and as could be said for any mating, it's rather doubtful that Galileo is the best mate for Goldikova. Would best use of all our present tools enable us to find her a better mate?

Goldie and Galileo: a match made in horse-racing heaven! But I wholeheartedly agree with what Barry A says above: "You could breed her to my uncle's mule and I would want to see it."

It's tough for a foal live up to the expectations of two such superstar parents, but it would be mind blowing if this one did. Wishing Goldi the happiest and healthiest of retirements and babies. She is truly a mare who will never be forgotten for her incredible talent and heart.

Funnily enough Galileo was somewhat of a flop in Australia.

He sired 4 or 5 crops and achieved 4% SW to runners.

Statistically his best cross is with Dahehill mares (Frankel etc). Australia is awash with Danehills; it is where he first made his mark before belatedly being taken seriously in Europe. Strange.

I believe in the old adage ''Breed The Best To The Best And Hope For The Best'' With Galikova already a proven group 1winner and the promise of more to come next season Goldikova should indeed be sent to Galileo.

is a turf horse the majority the races by the baby will likely be on turf if you want a dirt horse it's giant's causeway otherwise it's galileo
