Priceless Gem was indeed a great one (beat Buckpasser in the Futurity Stakes, at 2-can still recall my disbelief while watching it on TV), and among the best bred fillies, ever. She was certainly talented enough, and her resume at 2 more than sufficient to be named champion, but that crop also included Moccasin who was named champion 2 yr. old filly and also co-HOY. That crop of 1963 may have been the best ever, as it also included Buckpasser, Graustark, Creme De La Creme, Father's Image, five top Eddie Neloy trained 3 yr. old colts of 1966 (Buckpasser included), among many other good ones. The 1963 crop were the most talented I ever witnessed and I strongly doubt we'll see their like again.
