Agena, a full-brother to The Ferryman won his maiden at the first time of asking at Leopardstown today.

Mars ran a good race in the Epsom Derby beaten less than 4 lengts. His jockey Richard Hughes chose the inner route and ran into traffic problems. He should surely win a good race someday and has the makings of a good 4 year old next season.

Mars finished sixth of the thirteen runners in the 2000 Guineas but was doing his best work in the final furlong and it looks like he will be running in the Epsom Derby and looks well suited for the distance. It was a good effort in the Guineas as it was his first race since his maiden last summer.

Mars had a very pleasing work over one mile after the races at The Curragh to-day and it looks like his first race of the season could be the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Yes it was quite a performance by Mars especially the way he quickened up to go right away in the final furlong in this 7 furlong maiden at Dundalk. Also making his debut in this race was The Ferryman who is also by Galileo out of an Storm Cat mare, Dietrich and he ran on well enough to finish second so it will be interesting to see how this form works out. Galileo is certainly going in the right direction in his quest to match his own sire Sadler's Wells.
