As for Turkoman and certain "affinities" some strains have for others, I lean on such forums as these.

That, to say that I recently bought a daughter, Turkola ( out of Pocket Liner by Full Pocket). She is unraced and had foals out of a couple of stallions that never did too much.

I bought her specifically to put with an A P Indy ( Indygo Mountain, A P INDY out of Mountain girl by Mountain Cat).

Aside from being an exceptionally good looking granddaughter of Alydar the mare has no preferred assets.

I think very strongly that A P INDY will change that.

Of course, for all that he's been a very solid stallion, there is a difference in being a son of Thunder Gulch and a son of Danzig!

What's interesting is that Point Given did do very well with Seattle Slew (who has some pedigree ties to Turkoman), and we've yet to have a Hard Spun stakes winner on the cross (although there are only 10 starters for him out of Seattle Slew line mares). I've got a feeling he might work over A.P. Indy, and he's already had a stakes winner out of a mare by that horse's half-brother, Summer Squall.

It's also still far from a given that he'll retrospectively be known as a successful stallion, let alone any from this group-at this point I'm not too impressed with any of them.

Everyone is dying to see a Triple Crown Winner and the typical breeder seems to be interested in speed type sires , just turn a profit for win early type horses !

If the goal is to start breeding sturdier animals capable of making more than eight lifetime starts and capable of winning at Classic distances , something has to change!

I was looking at the Darley stallion imported from Austrailia named Lonhro . Is it just me or are breeders not interested in a durable proven sire that maybe able to bring some stamina and fresh blood to breeders looking to improve their mares ?

Hard Spun seemed to me as a no-brainer ! Hard Spun being from one of the last crops of Danzig and his talent as a Brilliant/Intermediate/Classic type runner was very appealing to breeders .

Obviously the heat had my mind playing tricks!

Lawyer Ron has, to me anyway, been something of a surprise as a stallion. He's been very solid despite not being by an established sire of sires (Langfuhr is a very, very solid stallion, but you wouldn't actually go looking for one to make a sire), and from a really light female line (although if you go back seven generations, you do hit Uvira II, ancestress of A.P. Indy, et al). However, he's been a lot better than some theoretically stronger prospects, and his affinity for Storm Cat line mares (50% of his stakes horses on than nick) would have been interesting to follow. Another example of just how hard it is to predict these stallions.

Good luck with Bandit Interceptor! I'll keep a look out for him.
